Fire Investigation
Unit
The Office of the Illinois State
Fire Marshal mandates in the State of Illinois Fire Investigation Act {
425 ILCS 25/9 } that all fires that occur within the State of Illinois
be investigated for origin and cause.
Any fires that occur within the
boundaries of the Little Rock-Fox Fire Protection District shall be
investigated by the Fire Investigation Unit. I cases of significant
complexity, other resources may be summoned to assist in the case
including but not limited to other local investigators, the Illinois
Office of the State Fire Marshal, Arson Investigators, K-9 Unit(s), and
the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
It is the goal of the fire
investigation unit to investigate all fires following the scientific
method as defined in the National Fire Protection Associations Standard
for Fire and Explosive Investigation. Investigators shall also conduct
monthly training so that they are constantly updating their knowledge.
The Fire Investigation Unit by
striving to determine the cause of all fires also assists in identifying
hazardous conditions so that they may be corrected before a fire occurs.
We also through public information help to reduce fires by educating the
public.
JUVENILE FIRESETTER
INTERVENTION SPECIALIST
The Little Rock Fox Fire
Protection District also offers juvenile fire-setter intervention.
This is an assessment process of
the child’s fire involvement. It is not counseling or any psychological
treatment in any form. A specialist talks to your child and has them
answer specific questions from a variety of questions that health
professionals developed in cooperation with the Office of the Illinois
State Fire Marshal, and ICFIRES, organization. |
